Stephen A. Smith Criticizes ‘Pitiful’ Democrat Party Amid Speculation About 2028 Presidential Run – One America News Network

Support is growing among certain Democratic strategists for Stephen A. Smith to consider a presidential run, aiming to disrupt the aftermath of a challenging 2024 election cycle.

Smith has openly criticized the Democratic Party since former Vice President Kamala Harris’s significant defeat on Election Day, sharing that he felt like a “damn fool” for voting for her.
“It’s refreshing to have someone from outside the political sphere presenting strong arguments for the Democratic Party,” remarked Democratic strategist Jared Leopold.
“We know that many swing voters view politics as a side dish rather than the main course, and sports can serve as a great gateway,” he elaborated.
“Democrats are in search of someone who can robustly advocate our positions without hesitation,” Leopold further stated. “That’s not typically found in politics, but Stephen A. Smith has crafted a career doing just that.”
Democratic strategist Joe Zepecki also commented, saying: “We welcome anyone with a platform who can articulate the costs imposed by the Trump administration—come on in, the water is inviting.”
Moreover, Democratic strategist Antjuan Seawright also did not dismiss the possibility of Smith making a future bid.
“What we’ve learned from past elections is that people gather information from various sources, whether that information is accurate or not,” Seawright noted. “Different individuals also process that information in unique ways, making it quite normal for an outsider to gain attention in the political arena.”
“It’s essential to realize that sports and politics share numerous similarities,” he continued. “Contact, competition, and the idea that in sports you either win or learn, which parallels politics—you don’t always lose when you learn.”
After the election, Smith appeared on “The View,” voicing his interest in a potential presidential run in 2028.
“If someone told me I had a genuine chance to win the presidency of the United States, I’d definitely give it some thought,” he remarked. “I say this half-jokingly, but there’s some truth to it.”
In a later appearance on Fox News, Smith reiterated his critiques of the Democratic Party: “The fact that I’m listed as a candidate for the presidency, according to Democratic polling, speaks volumes about the dismal situation within the party today.”
“I shouldn’t be anywhere on that list. I’m not qualified. This only illustrates how dire things have become at this moment.”
Smith then took a step back from his previous statements about a presidential run, asserting that he prefers not to engage in the “cesspool” of politics.
Recent polling indicates that 2% of Democratic voters support Smith’s candidacy for the presidency in 2028.
