Survey Shows Nearly Half of Swing-State Voters Anticipate Violence

Nearly half of voters across seven swing states expressed concerns about potential violence surrounding the presidential election in November, as revealed by a recent Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll.

Voters from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin were surveyed regarding their trust in the election process and its aftermath being free from violence.

The results showed that 49% of respondents anticipate some level of violence, with 31% having minimal trust and 18% having no trust at all in the election being free from violence. Additionally, 35% answered “some” and 16% responded with “a lot” in terms of trust.

The poll also indicated that former President Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, is leading Democrat President Joe Biden by 4 points among swing-state voters in a hypothetical matchup.

A recent Rasmussen survey from earlier this month showed that 4 in 10 likely U.S. voters believe a second civil war could potentially occur in the next five years, with 37% indicating increased likelihood if Biden wins reelection. 25% of those surveyed mentioned a higher probability of a second civil war if Trump were to win in November.

The Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll was conducted from May 7-13, surveying 4,962 registered voters from the mentioned swing states, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1 percentage point.
