Suspect Apprehended in Fatal Stabbing Case of 17-Year-Old Cheerleader – One America News Network

An individual from Azusa, California, has been detained following the alleged murder of a 17-year-old cheerleader just prior to Christmas.

The family of the deceased, Angelina Camillia Gonzales, asserts that her ex-boyfriend is responsible for her tragic death.
While authorities have not released the name of the suspect, they have confirmed that he is an “18-year-old acquaintance” of Angelina and resides in Azusa.
On December 20th, around 10 p.m., officers from the Azusa Police Department responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 300 Block of North Soldano Avenue.
Upon arrival, police found the young girl with multiple severe stab wounds. Gonzales was promptly taken to a nearby hospital but was tragically pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The victim’s family reported that they were able to track Gonzales’ cell phone, which directed them to the residence of her ex-boyfriend, as stated by KABC.
“When I arrived, the area was already cordoned off with crime scene tape, and forensics were present. I rushed to the officers, saying, ‘Hey, my daughter’s inside. I’m trying to find her. She’s not at home.’ That’s when they told me to step aside for a moment,” Robert Caraballo, Angelina’s stepfather, recounted to KABC.
Caraballo further explained that he had repeatedly warned his stepdaughter to avoid her ex-boyfriend, emphasizing that she had a “really big heart and always saw the good in him.”
Ruben Torres, her brother, characterized his sister as “bubbly, happy, funny, and always joking,” speaking to the outlet KABC.
“It feels surreal that someone could hurt such a sweet, loving, and humorous person,” he expressed. “Always remind those you love that you care for them. Tell them you’re proud of them.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office informed Fox News Digital that the suspect’s arraignment is set for Tuesday. Officials have stated that the district attorney is currently reviewing the case, with decisions on filing expected to be made Tuesday morning.
