Ted Cruz Condemns Authorization of Deadly Force on Trump Raid as Absolute Outrage in Interview with Newsmax
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., expressed his outrage to Newsmax on Wednesday over the FBI’s authorization of deadly force during the raid on Mar-a-Lago in 2022.
“When executing a search warrant, it’s common to authorize the use of force for safety reasons,” Cruz stated on “Rob Schmitt Tonight.” However, he pointed out that this was not a routine search warrant, but one involving the former president of the United States.
Newly unsealed court documents revealed details of the FBI’s search, sparking criticism from Republicans, including Trump, who took to Truth Social to denounce the raid.
Cruz criticized Attorney General Merrick Garland for approving the raid, especially given the FBI’s warning about potential encounters with Secret Service agents.
“The partisanship and politicization in the Department of Justice are glaring, as seen in the attorney general’s approval of a potentially violent raid on the former president or his associates,” Cruz remarked.
He emphasized the lack of logic in the entire situation, stating that anyone with sound judgment would recognize the absurdity of the decision.
The FBI issued a statement asserting that the standard protocol was followed, including policies restricting the use of deadly force for search warrants.
