A tragic mass shooting in Chicago has resulted in three fatalities and five injuries thus far.

Authorities responded to a shooting alert on Monday at 2:10 p.m. in the 3500 block of West 59th Street, nestled between St. Louis and Central Park avenues in the Chicago Lawn area.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found eight individuals—four men and four women, all aged between 20 and 35—who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Jon Hein, the chief of patrol for the Chicago Police Department, reported that three of the men succumbed to their injuries after the incident.
Hein mentioned that they suspect the shooting occurred during a social event, with no children reported to be on the premises.
He further noted that the investigation into the mass shooting is in its preliminary stages, and it is too early to ascertain any additional details, including potential suspects or vehicle involvement.
The Chicago Fire Department indicated that the injured parties were transported to various medical centers, including Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the University of Chicago Medical Center, and Mount Sinai Hospital.
A woman from the scene was seen entering a Chicago Police squad car with blood on her leg, although it did not appear that she had sustained a gunshot wound.
A neighbor, who spoke to the media, remarked that the location of the shooting is a regular “party house,” making loud noises and music common occurrences.
“I got home from work, and I saw a lot of people at the house—it was like over 20 people—and shortly after, I began hearing shots—very loud shots—maybe, I don’t know how many,” stated neighbor El Towers. “It seemed like it was a party. There are always people at that house partying.”
