Democrat mayor of Dolton, Illinois, Tiffany Henyard, whom residents have dubbed “the worst mayor in America,” has officially announced that she is running for re-election.

Henyard earned the negative reputation following FBI probes and several lawsuits that allege she has consistently been guilty of corruption, financial mismanagement, and retaliation against anyone who speaks out against her.

“Attention Attention Attention Attention I am running for Reelection for Mayor of Dolton,” Henyard announced on Tuesday.

Henyard was first elected in 2021 following her two year stint as a trustee on the board, where she won handily, capturing over 80% of the vote.

“I am running for reelection for Mayor, and I have no doubt that the people of Dolton will give me their overwhelming support and mandate. They know the truth, and I am committed and determined to continue fighting for my village for the next four years,” a statement Henyard’s attorney relayed.

Henyard is notorious for her extravagant spending, as the town’s general fund balance was at $5.61 million in 2022, but later tanked to a deficit of -$3.65 million under Henyard’s leadership. This is what prompted the multiple investigations, including from former Democrat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Lightfoot previously revealed that Henyard had used official city funds to make purchases at various retailers, including Amazon, Target, Walgreens, Wayfair, and others. In an alarming bank statement, Henyard had spent $33,000 in just one day on Amazon purchases.

Henyard is also known to throw extravagant over-the-top parties, spending tens of thousands in city taxpayer money in order to secure rapper and dj appearances. Henyard recently spent around $85,000 for a party that featured an R&B singer who goes by J. Holiday, as well as another singer, Keke Wyatt.

Due to the mismanagement of funds, the board has battled with Henyard to put a stop to her “antics,” which has now made them a target of hers.

Henyard recently filed a lawsuit against several board trustees, which she claims stems from an “illegal board meeting” they were apart of. Yet, these trustees also happen to be the same individuals who have openly voiced disapproval of Henyard for her questionable acts as mayor, according to sources who spoke with the press.

The official meeting had taken place at the park district building due to the larger crowd in attendance, which would not fit in their usual quarters. Henyard attempted to hold a separate meeting at village hall anyways, but it was canceled due to the trustees not showing up. This prompted Henyard to arrive late at the park district building, only to be heckled from the crowd in attendance.

Despite the loud criticism, Henyard has continued to push on unapologetically, announcing that an official campaign event would be held later this month.

The Dolton election will be held in April of next year.
