The Biden administration urging news outlets to ramp up scrutiny of the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry is a “desperate” move, said Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis.
“You can see how desperate they are at this point. Rather than turning over records from the Biden family to prove his innocence what did they do? They attack us, who are bringing facts to the table,” Tiffany said Wednesday on Newsmax’s “NewsLine.”
“One thing that I’m really pleased with what we’ve done in the House of Representatives and our chairman of our committees, in regards to this investigation, is we’ve been very methodical and we’ve been factual. Over 20 phone calls, Joe Biden and his son, 20 shell companies created, $20 million that has been taken from the Biden family, those things are all facts.
“And what I would encourage the independent press … I hope they have the integrity that they will say we want to find out what’s going on here and we’re going to help dig out the information for the American people to have full transparency.”
The White House memo sent Tuesday to U.S. news organizations called on the news media to “scrutinize House Republicans’ demonstrably false claims” surrounding an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” said the memo, which was addressed to editorial leadership at media outlets and written by Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House counsel’s office. “When even House Republican members are admitting that there is simply no evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong, much less impeachable, that should set off alarm bells for news organizations.”
