Tragically, three women have lost their lives after consuming a homemade cake during a family gathering in Brazil. This incident has led to an investigation concerning the baker’s deceased husband, who also succumbed to food poisoning several months earlier.

As reported by Rio Grande Do Sul, Tatiana Denize Silva dos Anjos, aged 43, and Maida Berenice Flores da Silva, aged 58, died from cardiac arrest following the consumption of Bolo de Nata, a traditional Brazilian Christmas cake.
Additionally, the Hospital Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes de Torres confirmed that Neuza Denize Silva dos Anjos, aged 65, was pronounced dead on Christmas Eve, with her death attributed to “shock after poisoning.”
Among the three other family members still hospitalized is Zeli Terezinha Silva dos Anjos, aged 61, who made the dessert alongside her sister, and a 10-year-old child.
Local law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances of the deaths, as arsenic was allegedly detected in blood tests from two survivors and one individual who passed away.
In light of this alarming finding, authorities have begun probing the death of Zeli’s late husband, who died from food poisoning in September. The police have requested that his body be exhumed for examination.
Authorities stated that various food items from Zeli’s home were found to be past their expiration dates, including a bottle of medication that contained an unidentified white substance.
“There were expired products in the residence,” police reported. “A bottle was found, a medicine, which should have contained capsules; instead, it had a white liquid that will also undergo analysis.”
Zeli, who consumed two slices of the dangerous cake, was the first to be taken to the hospital, according to law enforcement.
Officer Marcos Vinicius Veloso, who is overseeing the investigation, stated that there are no records of inheritance disputes or conflicts among family members.
