Trump Accuses Judge of Conflict of Interest Due to Daughter’s Ties to Hush-Money Case
Former President Donald Trump used his Truth Social platform on Tuesday to highlight the conflict of interest involving Judge Juan Merchan, whose daughter Loren Merchan works as a Democrat operative.
Judge Merchan is overseeing Trump’s “hush-money” case with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump faces charges from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for allegedly falsifying business documents to conceal payments to Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign.
“Judge Juan Merchan, despite his distinguished appearance, is clearly biased against me and suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Trump stated on Tuesday. “In simple terms, he hates me!
“His daughter holds a senior position at a very liberal Democrat firm that works for Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, the Democrat National Committee, (Dem)Senate Majority PAC, and Joe Biden.”
Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies any involvement with Stormy Daniels. The trial is scheduled to begin on April 15.
“In a separate case involving Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, Judge Merchan was harsh and threatening,” Trump mentioned on Truth Social. “He pressured Weisselberg to cooperate or face a 15-year jail sentence.
“Weisselberg complied and served four months in jail for minor offenses. Now, they are after him again, this time for alleged lies. They are pressuring him to say negative things about ‘TRUMP.’ He is frightened and devastated!
“These individuals have no valid case against me. It’s all a witch hunt to destroy the country!”
