Trump Announces Intent to Pardon January 6 Demonstrators on First Day of Second Term – One America News Network

President-elect Donald Trump has declared his intention to pardon the individuals involved in the January 6th demonstrations on the very first day of his tenure.

During an interview on Sunday with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Trump stated that he believes the members of the January 6th committee should be imprisoned, asserting his plans to issue pardons for the demonstrators upon taking office.
“I’m going to review everything. We’ll examine individual cases,” Trump told Welker. “But I will be acting very swiftly.”
Welker further inquired about the timeliness of his actions regarding the pardons.
“On the first day, I’m eager for the first day. These individuals have been detained — how long has it been? Three, four years,” Trump remarked. “They have been incarcerated for years in a filthy, disgusting environment that should not even be operational.”
She also posed a question about President Joe Biden’s contemplation of offering preemptive pardons to some of Trump’s adversaries, including Liz Cheney or Senator-elect Adam Schiff.
“For what they did, I genuinely believe they ought to be incarcerated,” Trump responded to Welker.
Welker then asked whether he would instruct his FBI director to pursue charges against those on the January 6th committee, like Cheney.
“No, not at all. I think they’ll need to evaluate that, but my focus will be on ‘drill, baby, drill,’” Trump replied.
This announcement follows Biden’s declaration last Sunday, stating that he granted a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, for any crimes committed against the U.S. from January 1st, 2014 to December 1st, 2024.
