Trump Campaign Accuses Politico of Acting as China’s Mouthpiece

The Trump campaign criticized Politico on Wednesday, accusing the outlet of being biased towards the Chinese Communist Party and spreading false information to influence the election.

In a press release, campaign spokesman Steven Cheung called out Politico for their reporting on China’s alleged preference for Donald Trump’s return to the White House, labeling it as “harebrained.”

Cheung refuted the idea that China would support Trump, highlighting the former president’s tough stance on China during his first term, including trade regulations, calling out China for the spread of the Coronavirus, and opposing Chinese economic aggression.

The statement also questioned Politico’s credibility, mentioning their partnership with the South China Morning Post, which is seen as a mouthpiece for the CCP. Cheung also criticized Rorry Daniels, one of Politico’s sources, for being a Democrat donor and referred to as a “China expert.”

The campaign expressed concerns about China’s growing influence under President Biden, citing issues such as the influx of fentanyl and illegal Chinese migrants. Cheung argued that this represents a weaker America and a stronger China under Biden’s presidency.

The message concluded by emphasizing Trump as the only figure capable of countering China’s influence: “There is only one person who can stop that from happening: Donald J. Trump.”
