The comparison to the Nazi police force during Germany’s World War II regime came after Trump disputed the politically motivated indictments against him. He had just concluded a New York criminal trial where he faces charges of falsifying business records to hide a payment made to a porn star.

“These people are running a Gestapo administration,” Trump stated in the audio recording heard by The New York Times and The Washington Post. “And it’s the only thing they have. And it’s the only way they’re going to win, in their opinion, and it’s actually killing them. But it doesn’t bother me.”

The Trump campaign did not provide a response to the reported comments.

While facing legal challenges in both criminal and civil cases, Trump aims to reclaim the presidency in the upcoming election.
