Trump Criticizes Biden’s Border Policy as Merely a Public Relations Move

Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s recent executive action on the border, calling it “meaningless” and primarily a “public relations executive order” in anticipation of the upcoming election in five months, as he shared with Newsmax on Tuesday.

During an appearance on “Greg Kelly Reports”, Trump accused Biden of “poisoning our country” with the executive action issued earlier in the day. The action, effective at midnight on Tuesday, aims to halt the southern border crossings once they reach 2,500 per day, a figure that is already exceeded. However, reports indicate that the exceptions in Biden’s order could still allow nearly 1.8 million migrants to enter the U.S. annually.

Trump dismissed Biden’s executive order as inadequate and lacking the impact of his own previous executive orders that Biden had undone in 2021 and the House border legislation known as H.R.2. He expressed disappointment with the order’s failure to address key measures to control border crossings effectively.

Trump emphasized that decisive action should have been taken earlier to secure the border, pointing out the need for meaningful policies like those requiring migrants to remain in Mexico while their cases are processed rather than being released into the United States. He accused Biden of opting for a superficial approach with his current executive order, describing it as “meaningless.”

Highlighting the dire situation at the border, Trump condemned the influx of individuals from various backgrounds, including those with criminal histories, mental health issues, and potential ties to terrorism. He warned that Biden’s actions were detrimental to the nation, further asserting that “He’s poisoning our country.”
