President Donald Trump criticized “Highly Conflicted” Judge James Boasberg for overseeing all legal cases linked to the Trump administration, claiming this situation makes it seemingly impossible to obtain an “Honest Ruling.”

Judge Boasberg, aged 62, hails from San Francisco, California, and was appointed to the D.C. district court by Democrat President Barack Obama. He was also previously designated to local courts in D.C. by GOP President George W. Bush.
Recently, Boasberg halted President Trump’s deportation flights for Tren de Aragua (TdA) affiliates by challenging Trump’s application of the Alien Enemies Act. Just hours after Trump enacted the proclamation on March 15th, Boasberg intervened, and the Court of Appeals subsequently upheld the 14-day prohibition.
Despite Boasberg’s directive to stop the deportation flights, two flights containing deportees had already taken off and were en route. They did not return.
However, the Trump administration successfully deported 261 illegal aliens to El Salvador, as reported by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele also confirmed that 238 of those deported were linked to the violent TdA gang.
“How disgraceful is it that ‘Judge’ James Boasberg has been assigned a fourth ‘Trump Case,’ an occurrence that is, statistically, IMPOSSIBLE. There is no possibility for a Republican, particularly a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, to prevail before him. His conflict of interest is clear, stemming from his profound disdain for me — classic Trump Derangement Syndrome!” the president stated in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday.
“Boasberg, serving as the Chief Judge of the D.C. District Court, appears to be monopolizing the ‘Trump Cases,’ despite this not being standard procedure. Is the ‘wheel’ for fairly and randomly selecting judges still in existence?” he added.
“The positive aspect is that it may not matter, since obtaining an Honest Ruling in D.C. is virtually unattainable. Our courts are fundamentally flawed, with New York and D.C. being the most prominent examples of corruption and radicalism. An urgent investigation into this Rigged System is necessary before it’s too late!” Trump concluded.
President Trump’s commentary was prompted by Boasberg’s assignment to the case against senior White House officials concerning the recent Signal leak incident, which involved a journalist/editor-in-chief of The Atlantic unintentionally getting added to a group discussion about potential Houthi “attack plans.”
This assignment was said to be based on Boasberg being “randomly chosen” from a pool of 20 judges on the bench, as reported by Politico.
Additionally, earlier this month, Trump had already urged for Boasberg’s impeachment following his ruling against the Tren de Aragua deportation flights.
“I’m fulfilling the mandate of the VOTERS. This judge, like many of the Corrupt Judges I’m compelled to face, must be IMPEACHED!!! WE DO NOT WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND MENTALLY UNSTABLE CRIMINALS, MANY OF WHOM ARE MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump declared.
Trump’s initial remarks regarding Boasberg quickly garnered a reaction from U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who contended that simply disagreeing with a judicial decision does not constitute sufficient reason for impeachment.
Nevertheless, many political analysts were not taken aback by Roberts’ unexpected defense of Boasberg — it was well-known that he and Boasberg had maintained a strong professional relationship over the years. Boasberg was appointed to the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) by Roberts in 2014 and presided over the FISC as its chief judge from 2020 to 2021.
“For over two centuries, it has been a foundational principle that impeachment is not an appropriate reaction to a disagreement regarding a judicial decision. The conventional appellate review process exists for that specific purpose,” Roberts asserted.
Boasberg currently manages a total of four lawsuits against the Trump administration — with the recent Signal case inclusion.
