Trump criticizes media for sensationalizing his ‘bloodbath’ remark
Former President Donald Trump criticized Democrats and the mainstream media on Monday for distorting his comment about the U.S. auto industry and taking it out of context.
Speaking at an Ohio rally on Saturday, Trump discussed the threat to the U.S. car industry from imports.
“If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole country,” Trump said, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Despite Trump’s focus on the auto industry, mainstream media outlets sensationalized the word “bloodbath.”
NBC News.com and CBS News.com ran stories with misleading headlines.
In response, Trump took to Truth Social to clarify his statement and criticize the media for misrepresenting his words.
Former Vice President Mike Pence also defended Trump, stating that his words were taken out of context.
Nancy Pelosi criticized Trump’s use of “bloodbath” on CNN’s “State of the Union,” without acknowledging the context of his comments.
