Trump Criticizes Rising Gas Prices and Receives Negative Response towards EVs at South Carolina Rally
Former President Donald Trump spoke at a campaign rally in South Carolina, criticizing President Biden’s energy policy and high gas prices. Trump stated that the US is no longer the top producer of oil and natural gas, as it was during his administration. He mentioned that gas prices are nearing $4 per gallon and blamed Biden for forcing people into buying all-electric vehicles. The crowd booed at the idea of electric cars and Trump called the energy policy “crazy”. He also criticized the Biden administration for draining the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, claiming that they were depleting it to keep gas prices down for election purposes. However, the reserve’s level is reportedly the lowest in 40 years. Trump mentioned inflation reaching its highest level in a half-century and mortgage rates hitting 7% and predicted they will go even higher. He concluded that energy costs and gasoline prices are skyrocketing under the Biden administration.
