Trump Demands Newsom Resign as Los Angeles Faces Wildfire Crisis – One America News Network

President-elect Donald Trump has urged California Governor Gavin Newsom to step down as wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles, rendering the city nearly unrecognizable.

This resignation call emerges after Trump referred to Newsom, whom he nicknames ‘Gavin Newscum,’ attributing blame for the disaster to him. He criticized Newsom for prioritizing environmental agendas over the welfare of Californians.
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump insisted that Newsom (D-Calif.) should resign, reiterating his belief that the governor is “responsible” for the crisis.
Trump stated: “One of the most beautiful areas in the United States is being destroyed. It’s all ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is entirely his fault!!!”
During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper amidst the chaos in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Newsom appeared visibly affected by Trump’s comments.
“People are literally evacuating. Lives have been lost. Children have lost their schools, families are torn apart, churches have burned,” he expressed.
Newsom refrained from elaborating on Trump’s remarks: “I have numerous thoughts; I know what I want to say… but I choose not to.”
He then criticized Trump for attempting to “politicize” the natural disaster, contrasting him with President Joe Biden.
“I stood alongside the President of the United States today, and I was proud to be with Joe Biden. He fully supported every individual in this community. He didn’t engage in politics; he didn’t seek to divide us.”
Newsom’s press office rebuked Trump’s claim that he could mandate water flow into California at any moment and is deliberately choosing not to do so.
“There is no such thing as a water restoration declaration – that’s pure fiction,” a spokesperson for Newsom commented.
“The Governor is committed to protecting individuals, not playing politics, and ensuring firefighters receive all the necessary resources.”
Trump criticized Newsom on Wednesday, claiming he was unprepared for the catastrophic wildfires in a post on Truth Social.
“Governor Gavin Newscum declined to sign the water restoration declaration presented to him, which would have facilitated millions of gallons of water from excess rain and snowmelt from the North to flow daily into various Californian regions, including areas currently ablaze in an almost apocalyptic fashion.”
“He prioritized the welfare of an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, providing it less water (which proved ineffective!), showing little concern for the well-being of Californians,” the statement added.
“Now, the ultimate cost is being incurred. I demand that this incompetent governor permit beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is to blame for this disaster. Furthermore, there’s no water for fire hydrants, nor for firefighting aircraft. Truly a catastrophe!”
Tragically, at least five people have already succumbed to the fires, with over 2,000 structures obliterated and countless residents left with nothing but ashes across the city.
Additionally, the death toll is projected to rise as emergency responders prepare to deploy K-9 units to search for human remains.
The largest fire thus far has consumed nearly 12,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades, an area known for its celebrity residents.
Over 130,000 individuals are still under evacuation orders, with celebrities using social media to share that they have lost their homes.
Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes, Paris Hilton, James Woods, Billy Crystal, and his wife Janice all reported that their homes were lost to the Palisades Fire.
