Trump Dismisses Prosecution’s Closing Arguments as “Boring”

Former President Donald Trump criticized the prosecution’s closing arguments with just two words on social media on Tuesday.

“Boring!” and “Filibuster!”

Trump shared these posts during a break in the proceedings at the Manhattan courthouse, where the prosecution had started its closing statements after returning from a lunch break. After 90 minutes, prosecutor Joshua Steinglass informed Judge Juan Merchan that he was approximately one-third of the way through his summation to the jury, as reported by The Hill.

According to the report, Trump’s legal team completed its summation in a little over two hours. 

Trump’s fate will soon be decided by the jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Retired New Jersey Judge Andrew Napolitano stated on Newsmax on Tuesday that the prosecution failed to prove an underlying crime, something that multiple hours of closing arguments won’t change.

“The government not only must prove that the 34 deceptive payments were recorded inaccurately, but that they were done in order to mask an underlying crime,” Napolitano said. “The government hasn’t, in my view, presented that beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s just suggested what it might be.”
