Trump dominates in 4 states, solidifying his hold on the GOP nomination

Former President Donald Trump strengthened his position as the Republican nominee for the upcoming election by winning presidential primaries in Florida, Illinois, Kansas, and Ohio.

Decision Desk HQ confirmed Trump’s victories in Florida, Illinois, and Ohio shortly after polls closed. The results in Kansas took a bit longer, but Trump still emerged as the clear winner in that state.

President Joe Biden also secured victories in Kansas, Ohio, and Illinois. The Florida Democrat Party canceled their primary and only featured Biden on the ballot, granting him all of the state’s delegates.

In Kansas, a notable 10.2% of the votes went to “none of these candidates,” potentially reflecting dissatisfaction with Biden’s stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, although Biden still led with 83.8% of the vote with 98% of precincts reporting.

Trump performed exceptionally well in Florida, winning 81.0% of the vote with 96% of precincts reporting. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley came in second with 13.8%, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 3.7%.

In Ohio, with 81% of precincts reporting, Trump had 79.2% of the vote, followed by Haley (14.3%) and DeSantis (3.4%). Trump also secured victory in Shelby County, Ohio, rallying to win with 67.7% of the vote, ahead of Haley (18.6%) and Vivek Ramaswamy (7.7%).

In Illinois, Trump led with 80.5% of the vote with 64% of precincts reporting, followed by Haley (14.5%) and DeSantis (2.9%). He also won in Kansas with 75.5% of the vote, followed by Haley (15.9%) and “none of these candidates” at 5.2%.

The only remaining presidential primary on Tuesday was in Arizona.
