Trump Expresses Confidence After Defense Concludes Case in New York Trial

Former President Donald Trump expressed optimism as he exited the courtroom after his legal team concluded its case in his New York criminal trial.

“Feel very good,” Trump stated in a video posted on his Truth Social account. “I think we have a great case that was presented. There is no crime. In fact, almost every review of the case so far has concluded that there is no crime. It should have never been brought to trial and should be dismissed before a verdict is reached.”

“We have a judge, Juan Merchan, who is very complicated and conflicted,” Trump added.

Trump’s legal team requested Merchan to recuse himself from the case due to conflicts of interest, but the motion was denied. Trump described the situation as frustrating and unprecedented.

The attorneys and prosecutors were scheduled to meet with Merchan to discuss legal instructions and key elements of election law that will be given to the jury before the closing arguments next week.

“There is no crime, and it is crucial that the judge does not manufacture one,” Trump emphasized. “The judge’s assistance to the other side should not be allowed in our country.”
