Trump: I Prefer Mike Johnson, Stay Put
In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump expressed his support for House Speaker Mike Johnson and urged fellow Republicans not to back efforts to remove him from his position.
During a conversation with radio host John Fredericks on Monday, Trump reaffirmed his support for Johnson, stating “I stand with the speaker.”
Johnson has faced criticism from some conservatives for his role in passing a $95 billion foreign aid package in the House, leading to a motion to vacate the speakership proposed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene with the support of a few other House Republicans.
“Well, look, we have a majority of one, OK?” Trump pointed out to Fredericks, referring to the GOP’s majority in the House. “It’s not like he can go and do whatever he wants to do. I think he’s a very good person. You know, he stood very strongly with me on NATO when I said NATO has to pay up … I think he’s trying very hard.”
