Trump Insists on Mike Johnson as Replacement, Refuses to Vacate
In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump expressed his support for House Speaker Mike Johnson and urged Republicans not to participate in the efforts to remove Johnson from his position.
During a conversation with radio host John Fredericks on Monday, Trump reaffirmed his stance by saying, “I stand with the speaker.”
Johnson has faced criticism from some conservatives for his role in passing a $95 billion foreign aid package in the House. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has introduced a motion to vacate the speakership, with limited support from other House Republicans.
Trump defended Johnson, stating, “Well, look, we have a majority of one, OK? It’s not like he can go and do whatever he wants to do. I think he’s a very good person. You know, he stood very strongly with me on NATO when I said NATO has to pay up… I think he’s trying very hard.”
