Trump is ahead of Biden in 6 out of 7 Swing States, shows WSJ Poll

According to a recent Wall Street Journal Poll, former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in six out of seven of the nation’s most competitive battleground states. This lead is evident in both test ballots that include third-party and independent candidates, as well as in a one-on-one matchup.

Trump’s leads range from 2 to 8 percentage points in states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, Georgia, and Arizona when third-party and independent candidates are included. Similar leads are seen when only Trump and Biden are compared, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

In Wisconsin, Biden is ahead by 3 points on both test ballots.

The poll surveyed 600 registered voters from each of the 7 states from March 17-24 and has a margin of error of 4 points.

In the 2020 election, Biden won states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, which had previously supported Trump in 2016. He also secured narrow victories in Georgia and Arizona. Nevada and North Carolina are also seen as battleground states.

The poll revealed that voters in these battleground states have more negative views of Biden’s job performance compared to positive views, with Trump receiving mostly favorable reviews, except in Arizona.

When it comes to issues like mental and physical fitness for the presidency, Trump is preferred over Biden by a significant margin.

Additional polling in the battleground states showed that Trump is favored over Biden on topics like the economy, immigration, and inflation, while Biden is seen as the choice for handling abortion.

Despite these preferences, voters remain undecided or back third-party candidates, indicating they could potentially swing back to support Biden.

The poll also highlighted that swing state voters prioritize the economy more than voters nationally.

According to the latest poll, many voters consider the economy and inflation as crucial factors in their voting choices, reflecting a greater focus on economic issues compared to a national poll conducted in February.

Voters also perceive the national economy more negatively than their state’s economy, showing a disconnect in perceptions.
