During his visit, Trump engaged with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Presidential Palace in Paris. The leaders reportedly held discussions emphasizing the robust bilateral ties between the United States and France.
“It’s a great honor for the French people to welcome you five years later,” stated Macron, recalling Trump’s previous presidency. “I remember the solidarity and your prompt actions at the time. So welcome back again. We are thrilled to have you here.”
Subsequently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined the meeting, adding to the international diplomatic efforts during Trump’s visit. This engagement underscores ongoing initiatives to tackle critical global challenges and uphold international alliances.
Before their discussion, Trump remarked on the current state of global affairs, stating that “the world seems to be going a bit crazy right now.”
“We have a strong relationship. As everyone knows, we achieved a lot together,” Trump expressed regarding Macron. “The people of France are extraordinary.”
After the ceremony, Trump is anticipated to meet with Prince William, who is attending in lieu of his father, King Charles III.
President Biden is not expected to be present at the event, although First Lady Jill Biden will attend.
Initially, William was set to meet the First Lady at the U.K. residence in Paris, but the plans were altered due to inclement weather, leading to their meeting at the ceremony instead.
