Trump leads Independents by 10 points in Economist/YouGov Poll
According to a recent poll from The Economist/YouGov, former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by 10 points among independent voters.
In a potential presidential rematch between Trump and Biden, 44% of respondents would vote for Trump while 42% would vote for Biden. Trump has 89% support among Republicans, while Biden is backed by 89% of Democrats, making independent voters a key demographic to watch.
Among independents, Trump leads Biden 40% to 30%, with 13% opting for “other.” A significant 63% of independents disapprove of Biden’s job performance, compared to 23% who approve.
The survey also showed that if not voting for Trump or Biden, 34% of respondents would choose independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., while 3% would vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein and 1% for independent candidate Cornel West.
Recent polls indicate a decrease in support for Biden, causing anxiety and anger for the president as he seeks a second term. The Economist/YouGov poll was conducted from March 10-12 and surveyed 1,559 American adults with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
