Trump: Major Terrorist Attack in US Inevitable

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to issue a stern warning concerning the possibility of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

“Just 3 years ago, we had the strongest and safest Border in U.S. History. Today we have a catastrophe waiting to happen. It is the WORST BORDER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD, an open wound in our once great Country. TERRORISTS ARE POURING IN, UNCHECKED, FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. There is now a 100% chance that there will be MAJOR TERROR ATTACKS IN THE USA. CLOSE THE BORDER!”

Meanwhile, Eagle Pass, Texas, stands as the focal point in an escalating dispute between Texas and federal authorities regarding the approach to the migrant crisis and the delineation of jurisdiction along the U.S.-Mexico border, CNN reported.

The contention reached a critical juncture on Jan. 10, as Texas authorities effectively restricted Border Patrol agents from a 2.5-mile stretch in Eagle Pass, particularly notable for an upswing in migrant crossings. This area, encompassing Shelby Park — a municipal park along the Rio Grande — is cordoned off with gates and razor wire, impeding Border Patrol access, CNN reported.

On Jan. 12, following the Texas Military Department’s seizure and securing of Shelby Park, an incident unfolded in a nearby section of the Rio Grande, resulting in the drowning of two children and a mother. Subsequently, officials from Texas and the federal government pointed fingers at each other, attributing blame for the circumstances surrounding this event.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security then designated Jan. 17 as the deadline for Texas authorities to cease their blockade of Eagle Pass and permit the reinstatement of federal operations in the region.

DHS has declared its intention to “refer the matter to the Department of Justice for appropriate action” if Texas missed the deadline.

In response, the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asserted that Texas would “not surrender.”

The Supreme Court weighed in on the matter and voted 5-4 to allow Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire set up by Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, according to CNN.

“By wasting taxpayer dollars to tear open Texas’s border security infrastructure, President [Joe] Biden has enticed illegal immigrants away from the 28 legal entry points along this State’s southern border — bridges where nobody drowns — and into the dangerous waters of the Rio Grande,” Abbott wrote in response.

Since the court’s ruling, 25 Republican governors have signed a letter supporting Texas in the border control fight.

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border,” the letter read, USA Today reported. “Because the Biden Administration has abdicated its constitutional compact duties to the states, Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.”
