Trump, Other GOP Presidential Candidates React to Biden’s 2024 Bid; Harry Belafonte Dies at 96
After months of hints and comments that he would seek a second term, President Joe Biden officially announced his 2024 reelection campaign in a video on April 25, four years to the day after he launched his 2020 presidential bid. Republican presidential hopefuls are firing back, with former President Donald Trump saying, “It’s almost inconceivable that Biden would even think of running for reelection.”
Trump also said he will not attend the GOP presidential primary debates scheduled by the Republican National Committee. Meanwhile, Democrats slammed the Democratic National Committee for having a “rigged” primary system, with no debates and moving the South Carolina primary ahead of New Hampshire on the calendar.
Harry Belafonte, a singer, songwriter, and actor who started his entertainment career belting “Day O” in his 1950s hit song “Banana Boat” before turning to political activism, has died at the age of 96.
