Trump praises Ken Paxton as a talented and well-suited choice for Attorney General
Former President Donald Trump praised Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Monday and mentioned the possibility of naming him as the head of the Justice Department if reelected in November.
During an interview with a local Fox affiliate at the National Rifle Association convention in Dallas this week, Trump expressed his admiration for Paxton and stated that he would consider appointing him as U.S. Attorney General.
Trump described Paxton as “very, very talented” and acknowledged that there are many qualified individuals for the position, but he believes Paxton would excel in the role.
He further mentioned his support for Paxton during his impeachment proceedings last year, which resulted in Paxton’s acquittal by the Texas state Senate.
Previously, Trump stated on social media that he intervened to help Paxton avoid consequences from Democrats and some Republicans.
On Monday, Trump reiterated his belief that Paxton has been an effective attorney general, despite facing challenges from detractors.
Paxton has also recently expressed support for Trump, labeling his ongoing trial in New York City as unjust and a mockery of justice.
