Trump praises Sen. Tim Scott’s Opportunity Zones as ‘Remarkable – Bordering on a Miracle’

In praise of Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., the only Black GOP senator, for creating Opportunity Zones in predominantly Black cities like Detroit, Michigan, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump aimed to challenge the Democrats’ grip on Black, Latino, young, and union voters.

“We’ve already achieved it with one of the most successful programs, particularly benefiting Black communities: the Opportunity Zones,” Trump told Newsmax‘s Michael Carter in an exclusive backstage interview before addressing a Black church in Detroit.

“Managed with Sen. Tim Scott from South Carolina, it has been phenomenal and almost miraculous.”

Trump addressed a Black church to undermine President Joe Biden and the Democrats’ influence on the Black vote in the past, speaking at a Turning Point Action conference last Saturday. Both speeches were broadcast live on Newsmax and the free Newsmax2 streaming platform.

“It is perhaps the most successful program of its kind ever attempted,” Trump continued. “We are very proud of it.

“During our tenure, we had the strongest economy, with Black employment reaching unprecedented levels.”

However, Trump warned that Biden, who previously controversially stated that if you don’t support him, “you ain’t Black,” has caused damage to American cities and the economy, particularly affecting African Americans.

“Now their wages are plummeting,” he stated. “The influx of illegal immigrants is taking away their jobs. The Black and Hispanic communities are more adversely impacted by the influx of Latinos into the country than any other group.”

Trump also targeted autoworkers and union voters in the critical battleground state of Michigan, a group that Democrats have traditionally had strong support from.

“I would also add another group: unions,” Trump said. “Unions are suffering greatly. With millions of people entering the country, the unions are being devastated.

“They don’t like to discuss it, but that’s the reality. The Biden policies, along with the massive influx of people into the country, are decimating the unions.”
