On Tuesday, Trump took to Truth Social to criticize President Joe Biden’s choice to commute the sentences of nearly all federal death row inmates.
“Upon my inauguration, I will instruct the Justice Department to aggressively pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters. We will restore our status as a Nation of Law and Order!” he stated.
In a subsequent post, he criticized Biden for commuting the death sentences of 37 convicted murderers.
“Makes no sense,” Trump commented. “Families and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening!”
On Monday, Biden announced he would commute the sentences of 37 out of the 40 federal inmates on death row to life sentences without parole, stating he was “guided by my conscience and my experience as a public defender.”
