“Well, he was significantly trailing; I assume he wouldn’t have had a chance,” Trump stated during a New Year’s Eve gathering at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night with Melania at his side.

“He lagged behind (Harris), and we achieved record numbers. I wish him well,” Trump remarked, alluding to his clear win over Vice President Kamala Harris last November.

Trump’s remarks followed reports over recent months indicating that the 82-year-old Biden expressed regret over withdrawing from the race, as he and his aides suggested he could have emerged victorious against Trump, despite opposition from many Democrats.

Biden faced mounting pressure and ultimately suspended his re-election campaign on July 21st, endorsing Harris as his successor on the ticket.

Trump chuckled at Biden’s claim, pointing out the dismal poll figures for the 82-year-old after a subpar performance during the June 27th debate.

According to the Washington Post, Biden and those close to him have been cautious not to attribute blame to Harris or her campaign for Trump’s November election success.

“We achieved record numbers, as you know, from every swing state. We won the popular vote by millions,” the incoming president noted.

Trump also extended his wishes to Biden, opining that the current president had an opportunity to demonstrate his capability to defeat him during their debate, but “things didn’t go too well for him.”

As “Hail to the Chief” played at the New Year’s Eve celebration, Trump forecast that the U.S. would experience a “fantastic” 2025.

“I believe it will be a great year; we’re going to do wonderfully as a nation,” he expressed. “We need to restore our status, as people are not holding our country in high regard; that must change.”

Trump also noted that there has been “great progress” in the five weeks since he secured his election victory.

“A positive light is shining across the globe,” he commented. “Not just within our country, but around the world, people are very happy.”

Furthermore, Trump confirmed his attendance at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in Washington, D.C., set for January 9th.

“Yes, I’ll be there. We received an invitation,” Trump said.
