This week, President Donald Trump offered some tongue-in-cheek compliments to former President Joe Biden, acknowledging his talent for falling asleep quickly.

“The only thing I appreciated about sleepy Joe Biden is this,” Trump remarked during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, recorded on Tuesday. “He’d go to a beach, lie down on a cot — barely managing to shuffle his feet through the sand — and within moments, he’d be asleep with cameras capturing it all.”

“I could never manage that,” Trump added. “It’s the only thing I think is commendable. But overall, this man was a total disaster.”

During his initial term, former White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson indicated that Trump averaged only four to five hours of sleep a night.

“I don’t sleep much,” the 47th president told Ingraham this week. “Many people who are passionate about their work tend to sleep very little. So far, it’s been manageable.”

Throughout most of his presidency, Trump consistently mocked Biden, earning him the moniker “sleepy Joe,” a nod to his pattern of bestowing nicknames on rivals, such as “Little Marco [Rubio]” and “Crooked Hillary [Clinton].”

“He spends so much time at the beach,” Trump quipped during a campaign rally last October. “Someone told him he looks good in a bathing suit. Generally — generally — an 82-year-old man doesn’t look great in one. There might be a few exceptions, but I can’t say I’ve seen them.”

Despite the teasing, Trump acknowledged that Biden left him an “inspirational” note in the Resolute Desk of the Oval Office as part of the transition process—a tradition that began in 1989 with Ronald Reagan’s note to George H.W. Bush.

“My prayer is that the coming years will bring a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation,” Biden penned in the letter. “May God bless you and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since our founding.”

Earlier this week, Trump rescinded Secret Service protection for former first children Ashley and Hunter Biden.

Additionally, Trump downplayed the legitimacy of Biden’s pardons this week due to his use of an autopen.
