Trump Supporters Barred From Courthouse Access
Former President Donald Trump complained on Monday morning that his supporters are being kept far away from the Manhattan courthouse where his criminal trial is taking place.
Trump made these remarks upon arriving at the courthouse before the day’s proceedings began with Judge Juan Merchan.
“What this judge is doing is shameful, we have thousands of people … we had a hundred thousand people in New Jersey … they would like to show their support,” Trump expressed, referencing a large rally he held in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Saturday.
“It is heavily guarded outside. You can’t get anyone within three blocks of this courthouse,” he added.
Sens. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, and Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., stood behind Trump as he addressed the media.
Trump also mentioned recent polls by The New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer that showed him leading President Joe Biden in five out of six key swing states.
“The big news today appears to be The Times,” Trump commented. “I’m sure The Times is pleased but I appreciate them for releasing it: Trump leading significantly in every state. Every swing state, leading significantly.”
Trump expressed his desire to be out campaigning instead of spending long days in a cold courthouse.
“This is a prosecution fueled by Biden,” Trump asserted. “It is election meddling to a degree unprecedented in this country. This is reminiscent of a third-world country, not the USA.”
Trump is facing allegations of falsifying business documents to conceal hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
The prosecution claims Daniels was paid to remain silent before the 2016 election about an alleged affair with Trump.
