Trump Threatens Democracy, Felon or No: Biden Campaign

The Joe Biden-Kamala Harris reelection campaign issued the following statement on Thursday in response to the guilty verdict against Donald Trump, who is challenging Joe Biden for the presidency:

“Donald Trump has always thought he could evade consequences for his unlawful actions for personal gain. However, today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people have a clear choice. The only way to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House is through the ballot box. Regardless of his conviction, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.

“The danger that Trump poses to our democracy is at its peak. He is leading a campaign fueled by vengeance and retaliation, vowing to act as a dictator from day one and advocating for the annulment of the Constitution in order to seize and maintain power. Another term under Trump would bring about turmoil, erode the freedoms of Americans, and incite political violence – a future that the American people will reject come November.”
