The total amount of private donations gathered thus far has been verified by a source familiar with the fundraising efforts; however, this individual was not authorized to speak on the matter publicly and requested anonymity.
This insider further indicated that Trump’s inaugural committee anticipates raising over $200 million by the completion of its fundraising initiatives.
On another note, the committee has yet to provide a detailed breakdown of how the funds will be allocated.
Typically, these private donations are utilized to cover expenses associated with events surrounding the inauguration on January 20th, including costs linked to the oath of office ceremony itself.
The funds raised to date by Trump’s committee surpass the total collected by President Joe Biden’s team four years ago, which totaled nearly $62 million according to Federal Election Commission data.
In 2016, Trump’s initial inauguration also set a record at the time, generating nearly $107 million.
Leaders from major tech companies are reportedly continuing to make substantial contributions to enhance their rapport with the incoming president-elect.
Last month, both Amazon and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced plans to donate at least $1 million each to Trump’s inaugural fund. Similarly, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed intentions to contribute a $1 million personal donation to Trump.
However, the inaugural committee has reportedly ceased selling tickets to contributors who wish to attend Trump’s swearing-in and other related private functions.
