Trump’s Lawyer Scharf Tells Newsmax That Prosecutors Have Yet to Prove Their Case

Former President Donald Trump’s defense attorney, Will Scharf, stated on Newsmax that any fair jury would acquit Trump in his New York City legal expenses case due to lack of evidence of wrongdoing presented by the prosecution.

Scharf praised Trump’s lead trial counsel, Todd Blanche, for dismantling the prosecution’s case and providing jurors with eight reasons to vote not guilty. The jury is set to begin deliberations following instructions from Judge Juan Merchan.

According to Scharf, the prosecution’s case alleging a 2016 election conspiracy against Trump has significant gaps in evidence. He emphasized that Trump was not involved in creating the central business records in question.

Concerning the potential conviction, Scharf declined to speculate on a report by CBS News about the Secret Service inquiring about Trump’s possible jail sentence. Trump, being a former president, is entitled to Secret Service protection even in jail.

Scharf criticized the judge’s warning of potential sanctions on Trump, calling it “banana republic stuff” and accusing the prosecution of trying to delay proceedings. He expressed confidence in the case’s simplicity and Trump’s innocence.
