At a Tuesday morning press briefing, Carey Codd, a spokesperson for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, indicated that the identities of the deceased and the circumstances of their deaths remain under investigation.

Codd noted that around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to a call at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where paramedics later pronounced the two men dead.

Additionally, Codd mentioned that the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform autopsies to establish the causes of death for both individuals. JetBlue has stated that authorities are investigating how the men gained access to the aircraft.

“This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to collaborating closely with authorities to assist their efforts in understanding how this transpired,” the airline remarked.

According to JetBlue, the aircraft’s last flight was flight 1801 from New York JFK Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

An official from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport stated that all passengers had disembarked before the deceased were discovered and that their finding did not disrupt airport operations.

JetBlue is also facing a recent $2 million fine due to ongoing flight delays.
