UK Nurse Found Guilty of Murdering 7 Infants Investigated for Additional Baby Deaths – One America News Network

British authorities have initiated further investigations into former nurse Lucy Letby, who is currently serving a life sentence for murdering seven infants, regarding the deaths of additional babies.

Initial reports suggested that her actions were limited to the deaths of seven innocent children.
On Wednesday, Cheshire Police reported that Letby was being interrogated about extra infant fatalities and “non-fatal collapses” at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where she worked previously, as well as at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where she completed her training.
The authorities noted that the interrogation was recorded and may be utilized in future legal actions.
Letby, age 34, received a life sentence without the possibility of parole after being convicted of the murders of seven infants and the attempted murders of an additional seven during her time as a neonatal nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital from 2015 to 2016.
Prosecutors stated that Letby caused harm to the infants in several ways, including injecting air into their bloodstreams, administering air or milk through nasogastric tubes, using insulin to poison them, and tampering with their breathing apparatus.
Investigators are now re-evaluating the care provided to approximately 4,000 infants admitted to the same hospital during the time Letby was working as a neonatal nurse.
Throughout the trial, Letby has asserted her innocence and maintained that she never harmed any children, despite failed attempts to appeal her conviction.
Dr. Stephen Brearey, a senior pediatrician from the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital, expressed his belief that Letby may have harmed or murdered further infants before her first known victim.
“In hindsight, I think it’s probable that Letby didn’t begin her pattern of killings in June 2015 or didn’t start harming infants at that time,” he stated.
Recent reports also indicate that a public inquiry led by a judge is currently in progress to investigate the hospital’s failures in recognizing the reasons behind the spike in neonatal deaths.
