On Sunday, United Airlines Flight 1382, operated by an Airbus A320, was evacuated at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas, after an engine fire prompted the crew to abort takeoff.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the aircraft was evacuated because of a “reported engine issue” shortly after 8:30 a.m.
Passengers evacuated using emergency slides and through the jet bridge, as stated by the Houston Fire Department.
Footage captured by passengers shows individuals on the tarmac while emergency personnel responded to the scene.
Reports indicate that there were 104 passengers and five crew members on board; fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
The flight has been rescheduled to depart at 12:30 p.m. local time.
The FAA is currently looking into the matter.
This incident follows a recent plane crash near a mall in Philadelphia that resulted in seven fatalities and 19 injuries.
Additionally, it comes on the heels of a serious plane crash in the Washington, D.C., area where an Army Black Hawk Helicopter collided with a commercial American Airlines flight, leading to the deaths of 67 individuals on board.
