US Urges American Citizens to Depart Belarus Immediately
The U.S. has issued a maximum security warning, urging its citizens to leave Belarus immediately due to concerns over the country’s close ties with Russia and the potential dangers of an expanded Russian war beyond Ukraine. Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland are also increasing border security as it has been revealed that the Russian Wagner Group has been exiled in Belarus, raising concerns about the threat of war extending to the Baltic states. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko denies that Russia is trying to involve Belarus in the war in Ukraine and states that his country will only participate if Ukraine crosses its border. However, Lukashenko warns that Belarus will respond to external aggression, including the use of nuclear weapons stationed on its territory by Russia.
