Vogue Magazine Takes Aim at Melania’s Official Portrait, Calling Her a ‘Freelance Magician’ – One America News Network

Vogue Magazine has taken aim at First Lady Melania Trump’s official portrait in the White House.

Vogue remarked that the image makes Melania appear as though she is “a freelance magician.”
They further suggested that the portrait evokes memories of her appearance on “The Apprentice,” the popular reality show hosted by President Donald Trump during the 2000s on NBC.
In the official representation, Melania is captured in a dark suit with a white blouse, elegantly placing her hands on a reflective surface while the Washington Monument stands prominently behind her.
“Trump’s choice of attire certainly didn’t enhance any boardroom semblance,” reads an article from Vogue. “The first lady donned a black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo jacket with satin-trimmed lapels over a white shirt, complemented with a Ralph Lauren cummerbund and trousers.”
“Opting for a tuxedo rather than a blazer or blouse rendered Trump looking more like a freelance magician than a public figure,” Vogue continued. “It’s perhaps not surprising that a woman residing in a gold-encrusted penthouse, whose fame is intricately linked with a reality television empire, would cling to theatrics—even in light of 248 years of tradition.”
In contrast to Melania’s 2017 White House portrait, where she is depicted with a warm smile and vibrant colors, the latest image shows her adopting a more serious demeanor.
Regine Mahaux, a Belgian photographer and film director based in Paris, is credited with capturing Melania’s new official first lady portrait. Mahaux also photographed Melania’s 2017 official White House image and has consistently documented the Trump family since 2006.
The fashion publication also scrutinized Ivanka Trump’s ball gown from her inaugural, which was a custom black and white Givenchy piece inspired by the iconic haute couture gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in “Sabrina.”
“Considering that politicians often embed significant meanings in their wardrobes—like Dr. Jill Biden’s red, white, and blue ensembles—Trump’s fashion appears grounded in artifice and aesthetics instead,” Vogue remarked. “It may be an intentional strategy: Perhaps Trump opts for a wardrobe that remains superficial. Yet her homage to vibrant Hollywood glamour on a stage imbued with substantial importance for many Americans felt ill-conceived.”
