Mickelson has claimed victory in 45 events on the PGA Tour, including six major championships: three Masters titles, two PGA Championships, and one Open Championship.

On Tuesday, Mickelson expressed on social media that Americans ought to acknowledge and value Musk’s contributions to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), noting that Musk’s work has been undervalued to date.

“Elon Musk’s generosity in assisting America to become fiscally responsible is commendable. We all owe him a great deal of gratitude,” he wrote. “Nikola Tesla faced a lack of appreciation during his lifetime despite his immense contributions to humanity. I hope Elon garners the respect he deserves while still living.”

Mickelson made his remarks in response to a post from Musk, who mentioned that the savings from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had “exceeded $4 billion per day.”

“My goal is to improve government efficiency by eliminating waste and fraud, and we’re actually making solid progress. Our current savings exceed $4 billion daily,” Musk shared with host Larry Kudlow.

Musk later replied to Mickelson with a brief “thank you.”
