Wealthy Donor Delays ‘Significant Donation’ to Haley
Ken Langone, co-founder of The Home Depot and a billionaire GOP donor who last year endorsed Nikki Haley’s candidacy for president, on Thursday said he is holding off on making a “major gift” to Haley’s campaign until after the New Hampshire primaries.
“If she doesn’t get traction in New Hampshire, you don’t throw money down a rat hole,” Langone told the Financial Times, adding that he likely will support former President Donald Trump in the 2024 race.
The New Hampshire primary will take place on Tuesday. Langone he said he is still pulling for Haley.
“Trump showed that from election day 2020 to January 6, his whole focus, in my opinion, was himself — not what was good for the country,” Langone told the Financial Times. “We’re going to need a very competent manager, as well as a president-statesman.
“I am supporting Nikki Haley because I think she comes [as] close to what you could hope for as anybody out there.”
