We’re Very Proud of Shen Yun in All of Canada, Says Renowned Television Presenter

MISSISSAUGA, Canada—Canadian television presenter Kevin Brauch, who co-hosted The Iron Chef of America and other well-known programs, attended Shen Yun’s evening performance at the Living Arts Centre on March 24.

Accompanying him was Ms. Erin Ayoung-Chee, a travel manager. The couple had followed Shen Yun’s commercial on TV for a long time and spoke about how great the music must be before finally purchasing the tickets. They were not disappointed.

“It was just incredible! I’d love to see a behind-the-scenes documentary about their training in New York.” Mr. Brauch said.

“There wasn’t one missed beat tonight! There wasn’t one little mishap and I’m sure it’s like that every night!”

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s top classical Chinese dance and music company. Met with wide acclaim since its founding in 2006, Shen Yun has grown to include eight equally sized companies that tour the world simultaneously.

For its 2023 touring season, the performing arts company is slated to visit over 180 cities worldwide.

Mr. Brauch loved the production value of the show. He was particularly impressed by the seamless cooperation between the performers on stage and Shen Yun’s innovative 3D digital backdrop.

“The segue between the big screen and the live actors—it made me laugh every time when I saw it. There was just so much dynamic energy in the show,” he said.

“It’s beautifully laid out. A really smart production, they should be very proud.”

Ms. Ayoung-Chee chimed in excitedly that she would like to bring her family to see Shen Yun too.

“It was phenomenal. The performance was impeccable and the artistic direction was amazing!” she exclaimed.

“The creativity of just taking the stage to the screen—the ease and flow of it were really, really impressive. [Shen Yun] told such a tight story in such short pieces without any dialogue. It was all done through dance. Really impressive.”

Shen Yun’s performance is composed of a series of classical, ethnic, folk, and story-based dances as well as solo musical performances. Audience members can expect to see a brand-new set of programs every year.

Mr. Brauch thought Shen Yun’s bilingual hosts were also very helpful in connecting these diverse pieces together.

“They have great energy and did little jokes. I think for anybody coming who might feel intimidated and not know what’s going on—they fill in all the blanks. That’s really another smart dynamic of the show,” he expressed.

“Keep it going! We’re very proud of [Shen Yun] here in Mississauga and in all of Canada. I look forward to seeing them next year!”
