West’s Efforts to Deter China Doomed to Failure, Asserts Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday the West was trying to deter China, but that it would fail in doing so.

“Relations between Russia and China have reached an absolutely unprecedented historical level in recent years,” Putin said at a forum in the far eastern city of Vladivostok.

The comments came  during a meeting with China’s Deputy Premier Zhang Guoqing on Tuesday, Russia’s RIA state news agency reported.

“We will together continue this work further,” Putin added.
