As per NewsNation, a senior official has confirmed these plans to the news outlet. This date will also coincide with the Army’s 250th anniversary.
An Army official told The Hill that “there are plans for a parade that will involve the Army.” However, nothing has been finalized as of yet.
The report further mentioned that the Army intends to mark its 250th anniversary with a “robust capability increase compared to previous years.”
“The Army is thrilled to celebrate its 250th anniversary alongside the entire nation. We aim for Americans to take pride in their Army and their country. It’s premature to confirm whether we will host a parade, but we are collaborating with the White House and various government agencies to ensure this celebration reaches a national level,” Army spokesperson Col. Dave Butler shared with The Hill.
The official noted that local government in Washington has been engaged in the planning, with engineers from both the Army and the city conducting “route reconnaissance.”
The parade, initially reported by The Washington City Paper, is expected to cover approximately four miles from the Pentagon in Arlington to the White House.
Since 2018, Trump has sought a parade to honor the nation’s soldiers. He was inspired to propose this after witnessing a French military display in 2017, remarking, “We’re going to have to try to top it.”
At the time, the parade faced numerous challenges. Defense officials argued that it would be too costly, estimating expenses could reach $92 million. Local leaders expressed concerns that large military vehicles, such as tanks and aircraft, might damage roadways.
