Whitaker Tells Newsmax: Georgia Case Focuses on ‘Creative’ Application of RICO
Former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker has expressed concern over the use of Georgia’s anti-racketeering law against former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants, stating that it may discourage people from questioning election results. Whitaker agrees with Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz that the case is an “act of creativity” and questions the motives of prosecutors who he believes are using the criminal justice system to target their political enemies. Whitaker also suggests that the process of prosecuting Trump is in itself a form of punishment and unprecedented in the country’s history. He contrasts this with Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams who experience no repercussions for speaking out about their losses. Whitaker believes that the American people are attracted to Trump because they see him as a fighter who will stand up for them and lead the country.
