Whitaker Tells Newsmax: Hunter Biden Testimony Will Pose Challenges

Former acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker believes it will be challenging to compel Hunter Biden to appear at a public House Oversight Committee hearing on March 20 regarding the impeachment inquiry against his father, President Joe Biden.

Whitaker stated, “I mean, they have a two-vote margin now once Congressman Buck resigns next week, and so I think it’s going to be very hard to get anything done, especially holding somebody in contempt that’s already testified.” He made these comments during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Chris Salcedo Show.”

Hunter Biden has rejected a request to testify at an open hearing before the committee, with his attorney Abbe Lowell calling it a “blatant planned-for-media event.”

House Republicans have alleged that President Biden and his family have benefited improperly from policy decisions made when Biden was vice president, but have not provided evidence of financial gain.

Information from Reuters was used in this report.
