White House Declares No Possibility of Pardoning Hunter Biden in Case of Conviction
The White House reaffirmed on Friday that President Joe Biden would not grant a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, if he is convicted of the gun charges brought against him on Thursday.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that there would be no pardon or commutation from the president when questioned on the matter.
Hunter Biden was charged on Thursday with three criminal counts related to false statements made during the purchase of a firearm and possessing the firearm illegally while using drugs.
This stance from the White House aligns with their previous response in July, where Jean-Pierre made it clear that there was no possibility of a presidential pardon for Hunter Biden.
“I’ve answered this question before,” said Jean-Pierre on Friday, referring back to the July briefing. “It was asked of me not too long ago, a couple of weeks ago. And I was very clear, and I said no.”
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, asserted on Friday that the gun charges would be dismissed before the trial.
“The U.S. Attorney’s office has known about this for years. No charges,” stated Lowell in an interview.
