White House Prioritizes Political Threats, Says Rep. Mast to Newsmax

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner’s warnings of a national security danger are a “concerning issue,” but the White House doesn’t consider such matters a threat unless they are political, Rep. Brian Mast said on Newsmax on Thursday.

“They’ll mock the Space Force,” the Florida Republican said on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “They’ll make the military woke. They won’t care about debt and deficit. The list goes on and on.”

Turner on Wednesday said his committee had made information available to all members of Congress about an unspecified “serious national security threat,” which, according to ABC News, relates to Russian plans to place a nuclear weapon in space to use against satellites.

“We can always defend against these things,” said Mast. “We have a more powerful Space Force than they do … but again, we deal with Joe Biden, who is like a toddler carrying around a Louisville Slugger [baseball bat]. It just kind of drags behind him. He doesn’t have the strength to wield it, and that’s what we deal with.”

Turner is in favor of the House passing a Senate funding bill calling for $60 billion for Ukraine, and Mast said he does not doubt there is a tie between the legislation and Turner’s announcement.

Mast said Russia has been elevating its nuclear threat since the first day of its war with Ukraine, and even before that used its nuclear capabilities as a “bludgeon” to get the United States and Europe to back away.

Mast also discussed special counsel Robert Hur’s assessment of Biden, which called into question the president’s cognitive abilities while determining whether to push forward with charges against him for his handling of classified documents.

“This was an impartial assessment of the president’s state of well-being, and the doctor was doing what the doctor does, just basically putting down on paper what they were observing,” said Mast, adding that a cognitive evaluation of the president is necessary.
